Do you know the rationale behind the law?

It seems not fair that women get state funded abortion on demand (at any age) while the men have to pay for child support regardless whether they want the baby or not. Apart from medical reason of course.

Also, in Jeremy Kyle show, I have seen few men who had been conned into paying child support for many years before finally proven by DNA test that they are not the real fathers.

Seems to me the law is unfair?

Disclaimer: I don’t support abortion but your article just put a different light into the whole feminism and abortion.

And what is the law around child support in relation to the biological father? Isn’t the father still be required to pay for child support even though he rather want the pregnancy to be aborted?

Very well said Madeleine, that’s a really good post. And you are right, i heard both the stories on the news and i also heard a complete different take on the NZ case. The double-standard didn’t occur to me at the time.

I guess to the pro-abortionists, the woman is entitled to not want the baby and their answer would be to knock it off before it’s born and becomes an inconvenience.

Totaly agree with your point about the media aspect. When reading the article on the web I couldn’t understand the underlying feeling that what she had done was okay.
And the offhand remark that the police are looking into the situation.
Here was a woman who put a child into a rubbish bin!!!
What is our world coming to????
