No, not a call to give up Christianity – we just listened to Dr Glenn Peoples’ latest podcast, it is worth hearing. Excellent commentary on Christian sub-culture and our willingness to accept sub-standard music, scholarship, etc just because those offering it to us are part of our club. Glenn calls us to critically assess whatever we are presented with on its merits.
Follow the link here and download or play; it plays easily even on fairly slow connections, like ours and does not seem to need any special programs to play.
Glenn, despite his PhD in Philosophy, is very easy to listen to and you can play the podcast even as you are surfing the web as the file happily plays in the background. He is clever, funny and very relevant.

A common objection to belief in the God of the Bible is that a good, kind, and loving deity would never command the wholesale slaughter of nations. In the tradition of his popular Is God a Moral Monster?, Paul Copan teams up with Matthew Flannagan to tackle some of the most confusing and uncomfortable passages of Scripture. Together they help the Christian and nonbeliever alike understand the biblical, theological, philosophical, and ethical implications of Old Testament warfare passages.

I’ve actually been subscribed to his podcast for a while. In fact, I actually discovered MandM through a link from his Beretta blog.
